Habit Loop
The cue is the part you never notice
Every habit runs a loop: a cue you can’t see, a routine you do anyway, a reward you actually want. Log the urge in a few taps and Habit Loop reads back which cue keeps showing up — so you can keep the reward and change only the routine.
Log an urge in seconds
The five questions from The Power of Habit — time, place, feeling, who’s around, what just happened — answered by tapping chips. It has to be fast, or it doesn’t get done mid-urge.
The pattern reads itself back
After a few days: “bored, 6 of 8 times. At my desk, 5 of 7. Mid-afternoon, 6 of 8.” The trigger you couldn’t have named from memory, in one line.
See where it actually wins
Not every cue is equally dangerous. Habit Loop flags the ones where you gave in far more often than usual — those are the moments your plan has to cover.
Find the reward you’re really chasing
Run the book’s experiment: do something else, jot the first three things that come to mind, wait fifteen minutes, and answer whether you still want it. A “no” means you found it.
Write the swap before you need it
“When it’s mid-afternoon and I’m bored at my desk, I will walk a lap — because it gives me a few minutes where nobody needs anything.” Your plan appears inside the logging sheet at the moment it applies.
Proof, not vibes
The plan is scored on the same cue before and after it started, so you find out whether the new routine is holding instead of guessing.
